Research and Extension with and for Farmers

On October 13–14, 2026, FTA — Farming & Technology in Africa will host “Research & Extension with and for Farmers”, a two-day event dedicated to connecting agricultural research with practical action and innovation adoption.
The event will bring together researchers, public institutions, agricultural advisors, farmers’ organizations, producers, students, NGOs, and development projects to share research findings, field experiences, innovations, and practical lessons.
The first day will focus on agricultural research, extension and advisory services, irrigation, and water management. It will feature presentations from the Minimal Irrigation Project (MIP), discussions on applied research, and a panel exploring the challenges involved in moving from research and innovation to practical adoption.
The second day will focus on the dissemination and adoption of agroecology, farmer-led innovations, and initiatives from young academics. The programme will include presentations and pitches addressing agroecology, biodiversity, and climate change, followed by an award ceremony recognizing outstanding contributions.
The event provides a space to learn, exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and identify practical pathways for action, bringing research and knowledge closer to farmers’ realities and needs.
