About FTA
Farming & Technology for Africa is a Malagasy organization with an African outlook, working toward
a world where people live in peace, free from hunger, and in a healthy environment. Its mission is to contribute to sustainable development and people’s well-being by mobilizing science, technology, agriculture, the environment, digital solutions, and human and organizational capacities, with particular attention to rural populations and younger generations.
FTA’s history began in 2008 with a private initiative focused on agricultural research, action and training. It became a legally established association in Madagascar in 2010. Since then, FTA has developed and supported various initiatives in agricultural research and extension, development communication and video, ICT, the Madagascar Ecovillage Network, agricultural advisory services, agroecology and, more recently, agronomic research and digitalization.
Its statutory objectives include improving quality of life in a sustainable environment; promoting agriculture, environmental protection, new technologies, management, organization and good governance; facilitating the circulation of knowledge; and supporting projects that contribute to these objectives.
FTA brings together professionals, students, experts and other individuals and organizations who share its objectives, with different categories of members, including founding, ordinary, supporting and honorary members.
Over the years, FTA has worked with or alongside organizations and institutions such as Aqua Alimenta Switzerland, CTA, FARA, AFAAS, CCARDESA, ESSA/ABC, Madagascar’s Ministry of Agriculture, as well as farmer organizations, research institutions, networks and international development actors.
Today, FTA pursues a simple but ambitious goal: to help prepare a new generation capable of understanding, experimenting, innovating and taking greater ownership of its future.
